I really need to get this off my chest...
Naive
What I see happening with the OMT and critics for almost a year now brings back so many memories for me from about 11 years ago that it hits me quite hard. I had a new and different sound in the field of nutrition and health and I hit the media with a beautiful promo of my book The Hormone Factor on RTL Boulevard. This immediately set the ball rolling and all kinds of media requests came in. I felt honoured and believed (naive that I was) that this was finally the moment for recognition of my vision. I was going to help the Netherlands with my beautiful substantive story and bring about positive change in the field of health.
Undercut
One camera crew after another came to me for quotes whenever something about nutrition and health had to be brought again. When I then went to watch the broadcasts, I noticed something. After I had said my lines, very often someone from the Nutrition Centre or a conservative professor would follow to fact-check and undermine everything I said. And all kinds of pieces I read about my book on all kinds of mainstream internet sites were also in this vein. And the most annoying thing was that every time, people would shop around in my book and other written pieces to pick out a few things, magnify and criticise them and then dismiss the whole book with that. The criticism was often not substantiated with scientific research, whereas I do this for the claims I make.
Authorities
Somehow, many authorities think they have the right to dismiss that view another by arguing that they represent the scientific truth. For example, the Nutrition Centre backs up its claims with:' It is a consensus of international scientists sitting on the health council'. In other words: 'Our paradigm is leading, because we are the authority and we decide who is allowed to have a say behind closed doors '. Of course, as an outsider with a different paradigm, you are a danger and will never get in the middle of this.
Nutrition gurus
So I would always be seen as an outsider with a different view and never as an authority. From then on, a frame was created for people like me, namely FOOD GOVERNMENT. In the card indexes of the media at the time, I will probably have been archived under that frame too. Whenever I made a punishing statement, the media would want me according to a standard script. Whenever a nutrition guru appears on a programme, a mainstream authority is always brought in to have the last word. And in my case, I was never allowed to go into an honest discussion, but my piece was aired first and then the authority on another site who could then refute it without a response from me.
Same blood group
In the years that I was listed as a nutrition guru, I must say that there was hardly any content discussion in the media. Most of the content and discussion took place on social media and online communities and there I was able to continue building the vision, brand and mission in the lee for many years. I am now in the card index of many magazines and newspapers under a completely different title: 'Expert Hormones and Lifestyle'. I am now nicely building on the hormone factor community with my team and working with many colleagues with 'the same blood group'. I also really don't need to be accepted and taken seriously anymore by bodies like the Nutrition Centre and other authorities who adhere to a different paradigm. You shouldn't think you can seriously slide in. To keep trying that anyway is really wasted energy.
Viruswappies
What I see happening now in virusland is exactly the same. Nutrition guru has been replaced by 'viruswappie' and Nutrition Centre by the OMT. I wish the serious critics who are unfairly dismissed as viruswappies good luck. There is always a group that your sound will reach and that is, of course, wonderful. However, don't get it into your head that you are ever going to be accepted and appreciated by the bodies assigned the role of authority. Do your own thing and also try to enjoy it where you can!

Very well described! And that's how it often goes. I can't even watch it on TV sometimes...There always has to be someone to undercut you...fine media!
Kind regards and thanks for what you do!
